X Lion Mac OS Revealed, to be available in July

Apple had announced OS X Lion quite a while back, and has now revealed all of its latest features at the WWDC. This is the 10th year of the Mac OS X. They’ve termed it as a major release and Apple claims around 250 new features. A lot of new multi-touch gestures have been added and  support for full screen apps has been increased.iPhoto, iMovie and Safari will all come in the full screen mode.
There is a new “Mission Control” which combines Expose and Spaces. It shows you all the apps and documents you are working on, plus your widgets and spaces.
They’ve borrowed from the iOS, their mobile operating system and added “Launchpad”, a place to launch any of your apps, where all the apps show up as they do in iOS.
They’ve also increased the security in App-Store, added push-notification and in-App purchases as well. Support for Delta Updates which should make patching a lot easier.
They’ve also added a system wide “Resume” feature which lets you begin exactly where you left it, down to any highlighted text.  An Auto-save feature for documents, that saves various versions of your documents. You can revert back to any one anytime you like. Only the changes are stored each time, so there aren’t thousands of  copies of your documents. You can also copy-paste from the previous versions of your documents.
A new feature called Air-Drop has been added. Its used for transferring files from one computer to the other, without any cables or devices. Just drag and drop. There is nothing to setup, and it will auto-discover the computers in range. The transfers themselves are encrypted for sake of security.  Finally they’ve updates their Mail to add support for conversation view. They’ve also updated to the search to support contacts, and subjects.

Lion will be available in July as a 4GB download from the App Store only for $29.99. You only have to buy it once for ALL of your authorized Macs, and installs in place. Not even a reboot required. Also, this upgrade price is valid as long as you own an Intel-Based Mac. The Lion Server will also be on sale in July for $49.99.
