How To Trace IP Adress of Incoming Mails in Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail

You may want to trace an incoming email to get information about sender. The best way to trace a mail is to know about the ip address from where the mail was sent which is a key to find the location of email sender. Here is an easy method to know the IP address of incoming emails in Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail. Follow the steps.

Find IP address of incoming emails in Yahoo

Follow these steps to find the IP address of a mail that you received in your Yahoo! mail account.

• Log into your Yahoo! mail account.
• Click on inbox or any other folder in case you receive mails in any other folder.
• Right click on the subject of a received email that you want to trace and click ‘View Full Headers’ from the drop down menu.

• Look for Received: from followed by IP address in brackets[].This is most likely the IP address of sender. If there are many instances of Received: from with the IP address, select the IP address in the last pattern. If there are no instances of Received: from with the IP address, select the first IP address in X-Originating-IP.

This will allow you to find the IP address of email sender which you can trace to find the location of the sender.

Find IP address of incoming emails in Hotmail

This will help you finding IP address of incoming emails in hotmail or Windows Live account. Follow the instructions.

• Log into your Hotmail/Windows Live account.
• Go to inbox.\
• Right click on the email that you want to trace and a menu will appear. Click ‘View Message Source’ here.

• You will get the header information here.
• If header contains X-Originating-IP: flowed by an IP address, this is the sender’s IP address.
• If this is not the case, find Received: from followed by IP address within square brackets[]. (In case you have multiple Received: from headers, eliminate the ones that have proxy.anyknownserver.com.)

Find IP adress in Gmail

• Log into your Gmail Account.
• Open the mail, Click the down arrow button beside Reply and select ‘Show Original’ from the menu and you will get the header information.

• Find Received: from followed by the IP adress between square brackets[] which is sender’s IP address.
• In case you get more than one Received: from pattern, select the last one.

These above methods enable Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail/Live users to find the IP address of incoming mails which is main thing to trace the location of incoming mails.
