VLC Media Player is very high quality audio and video player for Windows, Linux and MAC. Its speed and portability makes it one of the most popular media players. VLC has some other features than playing audio/video and one of such feature is file conversion in VLC player. Here is a short tutorial on how to convert a file in different formats (mp3, mp4, asf, ogg, mpga and others) in VLC player. The file conversion option is very simple in VLC.
To convert a video file from one format to another, go to Media > Advance Open File. Make sure to pick Advance because the simple file opener dialog does not display conversion options. Use add buttons to add file/files that you want to convert. After adding all files that you want to convert, move mouse cursor to the arrow next to play button and choose convert from here.
In the second ‘Convert‘ dialog, select the output format and click start. Destination file is the path where file will be saved after conversion, you may want to change it using the browse button.
This is simple method to convert video file into different formats using VLC and conversion does not take long.
